Demonstrated
Reading
Demonstrated Reading is the daily sharing of a high quality, engaging
text over a five-day time frame. Each day, the teacher (and the
students, with gradually increasing experience and control of the
text) reads aloud the same text, modeling fluency, expression, rhythm,
rhyme, and the appropriate syntax of narrative stories and poetry.
The teacher models a specific reading skill or strategy each day,
including phonemic awareness, phonics skills, new vocabulary, and
comprehension strategies. |
