This is a two-day workshop designed for teachers implementing the Common Core State Standards through the power of differentiated writing instruction, genre theory, and developmentally sequenced instructional targets in elementary school classrooms. This one-day workshop provides ECAW-trained classroom teachers with a structured process for understanding and implementing the current standards and practices in the Every Child a Writer instructional model. Participants will examine anchor papers, teaching targets, and assessment aligned to the CCSS.

Initial Training for New Teachers
This two-day training introduces the components of Demonstrated, Differentiated, and Directed Reading in the Every Child a Reader model of instruction. Using assessment results to plan and differentiated instruction is an essential component of this workshop.

The workshop features specific and teachable definitions with examples for target instruction in the context of real writing activities for elementary, middle, and high school students.
